    After saying they’d do something about it this year, GOP lawmakers still oppose banning members of terrorist organizations or those on the no-fly list or terrorist watch list from buying firearms and explosives.

    The nonpartisan Government Accountability Office says that from 2004 to 2014, people on terrorism watch lists successfully purchased guns at least 2,043 times.

    “Membership in a terrorist organization does not prohibit a person from possessing firearms or explosives under current federal law,” the Government Accountability Office (GAO) warned back in 2010.
